Boating

Grand Haven is known for its fantastic beaches and boating. During the summer months, the Grand River is a never ending flow of motorboats, sailboats, jet skis, kayaks, freighters and other watercraft.

Outbound vessels are usually headed to Lake Michigan for cruising, fishing or water sport
excursions. Visitors coming into Grand Haven often tie up along the channel wall or lease a slip at Grand Haven Municipal Marina so they can enjoy the eateries, shops, activities and events available ashore. Just around the bend, the Grand River branches off. One direction takes travelers inland on the Grand River. The other leads to scenic Spring Lake, a seven mile long lake where people go to sightsee, swim, waterski, tube and fish, among other things.
