The mission of Grand Haven Main Street Downtown Development Authority is to enhance a vibrant historic business district through community efforts, plus public and private partnerships.
Grand Haven is one of only eighteen communities in the state of Michigan to be recognized as part of the Michigan Main Street Program. The intention of this program includes revitalizing the downtown, promoting businesses, increasing economic development, and encouraging growth in the community’s business districts.
The Main Street Program uses a Four Point Approach that includes four different committees of volunteers whom undertake aspects related to the Main Street goals. These committees are: Organization, Promotions, Recruitment and Retention, Preservation and Place. All of the committees and the staff at Grand Haven Main Street function under the provision of a governing board of city officials, business owners and appointed members of the local community.
