Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses across the country. Founded by American Express in 2010, this day is celebrated every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. In 2016, Small Business Saturday is on November 26th. See how one small day has grown into a movement that millions of individuals, businesses, and communities have embraced nationwide. The Shop Small® Movement inspires people to shop with and support these small businesses as well as give back to the places that have given their communities so much.

Frozen in Time

Saturday, February 11th, 2017  2 ~ 4 pm

Ready. Set. Freeze! In February, when it’s freezing outside, the businesses of Grand Haven Main Street showcase Broadway-themed freeze frames in their storefront windows as part of the annual Frozen in Time event.

This year’s Frozen in Time is a “Broadway themed” competition, complete with live mannequins, prop-filled backdrops and an Oscar-style awards ceremony immediately following. Hundreds turn out for this two hour walking tour which touts characters from your favorite Broadway shows!

During the Frozen in Time awards ceremony there is a raffle drawing with cash and merchandise prizes awarded to guests who accurately match the store names with animated scenes.  This year’s ceremony venue is the Tri-Cities Historical Museum, 200 Washington.  Join us for the announcement of “Best Window” and raffle contest winners.

Coast Guard Festival

The Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival is a celebration of the men and women who serve in the United States Coast Guard. The Festival Committee, a 21 member volunteer board, hosts the nationally recognized annual event over a ten day period in the last week of July and the first week of August.  The 2016 Coast Guard Festival takes place July 29-August 6.

Along with the summer celebration, this committee serves the Coast Guard families in Western Michigan all year long through various outreach programs, including welcome packages, new baby gifts, holiday parties and treats, and other public events. In addition, the Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival builds relationships with the United States Coast Guard that fosters Grand Haven. Michigan as Coast Guard City USA.
