The United States Coast Guard has a long and prestigious history in Grand Haven and around the world. Grand Haven has celebrated its unique relationship with the Coast Guard since the early 1900s, when the U.S. Life Saving Service established a station in this Lake Michigan shoreline community.
Today, Grand Haven is known as “Coast Guard City U.S.A” in recognition of her special relationship with the longest continuous seagoing service of our nation. During the annual Coast Guard Festival we host Coast Guard dignitaries, returning sailors, and retirees. We will honor them throughout the week as well as members of the Coast Guard Auxillary who’ve passed away in the last year. We invite you to learn and discover more on the Walk of Coast Guard History. Brochures are available the lobby at the Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival headquarters.
