Visitors come from far and wide for the unique assortment of boutiques, restaurants, art galleries and museums that the district has to offer. When they come, they experience firsthand why locals are proud to call Grand Haven “home.”
Summer is definitely one of the best seasons here. Situated alongside Lake Michigan,
Grand Haven boasts an array of beautiful beaches, with an abundance of boating and outdoor recreational activities to boot. The Coast Guard Festival The Great Lakes Kite Festival takes place on City Beach in May. In April, families gather at Central Park for the annual Easter Egg Hunt. Then, a few weeks later, they head over to Snug Harbor restaurant for Chilly Blues, a chili cook off showcasing the tasty talents of local amateur chefs.
There’s still more to do when autumn arrives. Grand Haven ArtWalk runs from mid September through the beginning of October. Hundreds of artworks are on display during this two and a half week event.
Indie Rock Music Festival and Salmon Fest occur during the fall too. Then, there’s Downtown Trick-or-Treating, followed by Light Night and Friday Frenzy in November, Wine About Winter in January and Frozen in Time in February. And, if that isn’t enough, there’s skiing, snowboarding, sledding, skating and all sorts of outdoor recreational activities in winter as well.
