The Main Street Approach.

Grand Haven Main Street is an accredited partner of Main Street America, and a proud Michigan Main Street Community. We’re dedicated to preserving our historic downtown, and together with our community, we work to ensure that downtown Grand Haven is a vibrant place to eat, shop, play, visit, live and work.

Main Street Four Points.

Our approach is implemented through comprehensive work in four broad areas, known as the Four Points. These four points include Economic Vitality, Design, Organization, and Promotion.

1. Economic Vitality

Economic Vitality works to strengthen existing businesses and attract new ones, property development, and create a supportive environment for entrepreneurs.

2. Design

Design works to improving the physical appearance of the district through attractive buildings, streetscapes, and public spaces to set the commercial district apart.

3. Organization

Organization involves creating a strong foundation for revitalization, cultivating partnerships, community involvement, and resources for the district.

4. Promotion

Promotion positions the downtown district as a hub of economic activity, while creating a positive image that showcases a community’s unique characteristics.

The Grand Haven Main Street Program is composed of four different committees of volunteers whom undertake aspects related to the Main Street goals which correlate to the Four Points. All of the committees and the staff at Grand Haven Main Street function under the provision of a governing board of city officials, business owners and appointed members of the local community.
