I love Grand Haven and started the business as a commercial real estate firm that would provide a boutique commercial real estate service in Grand Haven and Tri-Cities.

– David Ten Cate, Capstone

“At Capstone, we help people buy, sell, and manage commercial real estate, residential real estate, and condominium associations. We also do a little bit of consulting and some development. I’ve lived here since 1991, and started Capstone in 2004. I’m a recovering attorney—still licensed to practice. I love Grand Haven and started the business as a commercial real estate firm that would provide a boutique commercial real estate service in Grand Haven and Tri-Cities.”

“I joined Capstone in 2009 after 20-something years in banking.Dave and I had acquired a building about five years prior to that—the Chase Bank building downtown—and I knew that my banking career was probably winding to a halt, coming to an end. So we kept in touch over those three to five years, and I always told him, ‘Hey, keep my office open for me. I’m coming, I just don’t know when.’ I bought into Capstone in 2009. In real estate, there are constant challenges or issues that come up, and that requires creativity and problem-solving. I love that part.

We moved to Grand Haven in ’94. At that point, we were opening a new bank in town, and they wanted us to live in the community that we were working in. We fell in love with pretty much everything here: the beach, the hiking trails, the downtown, the YMCA, the good school systems. It’s a great place to raise a family. “

“Right out of college, I started working at a title company, and then transitioned into development. And then from there, 2008 hit, and the development company went under, so then I got my license and decided to take the residential route. I like doing the right thing by people and helping them find their place to land.

I love the people here in Grand Haven. I raised my kids here. I love the community and it’s a great place to live.”
